TECHNOLOGY

ASOP provides teacher-led curriculum by using textbooks, paper/pencil assignments, and computer-based assignments. Students are given a Chromebook for their use during enrollment. With the realization that the use of computers at all levels of education is essential, we strive to educate our students on the responsible, appropriate use of technology.

ASOP uses Google Workspace for Education for students, teachers and staff. The following services are available to each student on a domain paid for by ASOP and hosted by Google as part of ASOP’s online presence in Google Apps for Education:

  • Mail — an individual email account for school use, managed by ASOP

  • Calendar — a calendar providing the ability to organize schedules, daily activities and assignments

  • Docs — a word processing, spreadsheet, drawing and presentation tool set.

Students agree to abide by ASOP’s Chromebook Use Policy and the G Suite for Education Account Policy, copies of which are provided to parents upon enrollment.

Using these tools, students collaboratively create, edit and share files and websites for school-related projects, and communicate via email with other students and teachers.

Students are granted access to the Internet by their teachers for specific academic purposes. ASOP strives to monitor responsible, appropriate use of the Internet. As with any educational endeavor, a strong partnership with families is essential for a successful experience while using technology. Students agree to abide by ASOP’s Technology Agreement, a copy of which is provided to parents upon enrollment.

Students who take Computers as an elective class complete the Ignition: Digital Wellness and Safety course. Consisting of six digital responsibility lessons, the course provides students with the information they need to safely navigate the digital world. Students receive a certificate upon completion.
