TESTING

ASOP administers the NWEA Measure of Academic Progress (MAP) as a diagnostic tool to:

  • determine academic strengths and weaknesses,

  • prescribe appropriate materials for advancement, and

  • eliminate unnecessary hours of instruction.

MAP testing is a series of computerized adaptive tests that measure a student’s general knowledge in reading, language usage, and mathematics. It provides teachers with accurate evidence to help inform instructional strategies regardless of how far a student is above or below grade level.

MAP testing is available to be administered at enrollment, at mid-year, and at the end of the school year to measure academic growth.

ASOP administers the Kansas Assessment Program (KAP) in the spring of each school year. It is given to students in designated grades in specific subject areas. KAP is designed to support educators and policymakers in evaluating student learning.

Standardized testing (MAP/KAP) is one set of criteria that ASOP uses to drive curriculum and evaluate student performance.
